Jodie Nickson

Founded in 2014 by Jody Nixon—a certified instructor in Equine-Facilitated Learning and Human Development, as well as the Masterson Method—Metaphorse Growth & Healing Center is a non-profit sanctuary located in Montrose, Colorado. Built on the core principle of “We rescue horses who rescue people,” Metaphorse pairs rescued equines with individuals to foster emotional healing, personal growth, and leadership skills.

Through hands-on experiences, students in this elective will explore the unique science and art of the horse-human connection, gaining insight into animal welfare, therapeutic care, and mutual personal development.
